Prof. Dr. Ayşe Diljin Keçeci

Prof. Dr. Ayşe Diljin Keçeci was born in Ankara in 1968. She completed her primary and secondary education at Muratreis Primary School and Bornova Anatolian High School in İzmir. In 1991, she graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ege University.

Between 1992 and 1997, she completed her doctoral studies in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Ege University. As part of her doctoral research, she worked as a DAAD scholar at J. W. Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, from 1994 to 1996.

In 1998, she joined the Faculty of Dentistry at Süleyman Demirel University as a founding faculty member of the Department of Restorative Dentistry. In 2004, she carried out an academic research project in Germany with the support of a DAAD scholarship.

In 2006, she played a leading role in the establishment of the Department of Endodontics. In the same year, she published the textbook “Root Canal Anatomy and Introduction to Root Canal Treatment.” In 2011, she organized the international symposium entitled “The 4 E’s of Endodontics: Education, Expertise, Ethics, Economics” in Isparta, Türkiye.

Her academic research has focused on endodontic microbiology, microleakage, post-endodontic restorations, root canal instruments, dental trauma and prevention in athletes, and dental fluorosis in the Isparta region. She has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. In addition, she worked as a visiting researcher at ACTA in the Netherlands in 2013 and at several dental schools in the United States in 2014.

Prof. Dr. Keçeci has been a pioneer in the field of sports dentistry in Türkiye. She contributed to the development of custom-made mouthguards for athletes of the Turkish National Taekwondo Team and supported initiatives aimed at making the use of these mouthguards mandatory during competitions. Through some of the first international publications on the subject, she played a significant role in raising awareness of dental trauma and preventive approaches in sports within Türkiye.

Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous research projects supported by TÜBİTAK, university research funds, and various international organizations, receiving several awards for her academic achievements. She is fluent in German and English and is the mother of one child.
